Last week, I had the opportunity to visit the Georgia Institute of Technology campus, commonly known as Georgia Tech, located in the heart of Atlanta, as part of my trip there for the Higher Education Consultants Association Conference. I’ve visited Atlanta many times and several institutions there, but this was my first time seeing the Tech campus.

According to the latest admission statistics from Georgia Tech, the overall acceptance rate for the class of 2027 was around 18%, with an in-state acceptance rate of approximately 27% and an out-of-state acceptance rate of 13%. These figures highlight the competitiveness of admission, especially for out-of-state applicants.
Georgia Tech employs a holistic review process, considering factors such as academic performance, standardized test scores, extracurricular activities, and essays. The university offers over 30 undergraduate degrees across six colleges, with popular majors including Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, and Business Administration.
For some highly competitive majors like Computer Science, Georgia Tech does not accept internal transfers from other majors. Students interested in these programs must apply directly as incoming freshmen since space is very limited in these programs.
